too rusty ???????

attached are some pics of the rear axle mounting points on my mk1, they're obviously quite corroded, has any one had the same problem and,or got any advice as to the ammount of work involved thanks peeps OH AND HOW DO YOU ATTACH IMAGES :dontknow:

they look solid compared to what mine was like, lol.
the repair panels are about £25 the its just a case of taking your time removing them and then you need someone who can weld as thats wher im stuck with mine now, iv got them off but it all needs welding back up.

Not too bad, cut the rot out and replace with new.

Don't cut too much out at once because it may sag on the spit, I'd suggest one side at a time.

i did this repair today, check my thread. page three. it was abit of a pain but not too bad.if ya know how to weld and have alot of patience youll be fine haha, good luck

firstly thanks regcheeseman for re doing my links my computer likes to say no! and cheers boyle_sbd for the thread v helpfull ill be keeping an eye out for this 1. as to the big lights ?

today im going to start cleaning up all this rust but its going to be exposed (in garage) for a while, does anyone know how to temporarily prevent bare metal from rust etc.

Invest in some rustbuster epoxy mastic. Even better than POR15

Spray or brush on.
