tips on cleaning a mohair roof!!
I've got a gti rivage, blue cloth interior and blue mohair roof. Cant seem to get a decent finish on the roof when i clean the car and havent risked using any products yet for risk of doing more damage than good. any tips as to how to rejuvenate the material and really get rid of the residue build up?
also i have two tears in the same place either side at the rear of the roof by the hinges, they were there when i bought the car but i think im right in saying they are a design fault!? any recommendations as to how best the repair/patch up without replacing the whole roof? i was considering having a couple of small vw badges fabricated and sown on but am struggling to find anywhere that will do this?
thanks

Theres plenty of cleaning products on the market.
A lot of people reccomend Renovo Soft Top Cleaner | Renovo Convertible Roof Cleaner
At the moment im using products from these guys http://www.303products.com/
I think im going to try something from Renovo next time tho.
Also get yourself a soft brush to help you clean the roof.
Ceri.
Also where abouts are the 2 holes you got in the roof?

Personally I think sew on patches/badges will detract from a classic car such as a Rivage.
I would put a new roof on, it will look so much better.
If it's the original roof then it will be showing signs of wear.

chortle, i agree that patches will detract from a classic car and i would love to replace the roof, it still has the orginal. I can't, however, afford it at the moment, im in my final year of uni so was looking for a temp fix until im in a better position. out of interest how much woukd a new roof set me back?
the holes are in pretty much the same place jus behind the rear passenger windows either side, where the roof arm folds. they havent really caused any problems up to know, it more the aesthetics.
thanks

I notice mine is catching in the same area. No damage or anything but I know it catches.
Does anyone know why it catches in them places?
The roof folds ok and looks as it shud when its down.

You would need a new set of cables around £20.00
So around a couple hundred DIY.
As your close to Derby I could give you a hand.
