Swimming pool

Hi

My Golf has stood for 1 week.  Just checked it and the rear foot wells resemble a swimming pool :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead: Its taken 6 large towels to mop it up.  I left if for 30 mins and the carpets are starting to get soaked again 8O Its not raining at the mo so i dont understand that :dontknow:

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this

turn the hose off a take out off car!!!!

more than likely theres water built up between some panels could be getting in the rear of front but somewhere is full!!

if u take carpet out and try and track the water back to where its coming from

hello!

have you checked the obvious drain plugs on the slam panel?  :dontknow:

(there is one each side.)

You'll need to lift the carpets and take out the underfelt sound deadening. It will be soaking and will never dry out if left in the car.

It will start to smell and steam up the windows.

cheeck it's not the drivers door window seal/rubber. they can leak and water can drain through the bottom of the door and into the footwell.

also check behind the door panels, the plastic membranes that are supposed to be there are often missing or ripped or un stuck where some monkeys   been fidling with speakers or winder mechanisms, thats a common cause of water getting in, they have to be 100% stuck down or water runs down the inside of them from the door window rubbers and finds its way in, usually into the rear footwells!!!

Strange, I thought only Cabbys leaked.

Every day's a school day I suppose.

Mine did exactly the same, its coming in through the bottom of the door where the membrane is knackered. Made a new membrane and stuck it on but it keeps lifting off after a few days. What would anyone recommende to stick it down with?

BIG hole where the seat belt holder fits into the boot area.  I'm not sure what that section is called, or if i can get a replacement section :dontknow: Not a technical term but its the bulgy metal part on the inside of the wing.

The rear window seals also appear to be letting in water, so i will get some silicon sealant and get that sorted.

Big thanks for all your help - i'm slowly learning  If it still leaks then i will have a scratch my head :?

do you mean the inner wheel arch housing? the part the rear strut fixes into inside the boot? and when you say a hole do you mean a rust hole???? if so it will need welding up or it will just get worse, if its just trim or window rubbers miss fitted or damged it should be an easy cure, you can use clear silicon sealant or you can get other bonding stuff that does the same job, silicon is the best and easiest to use though

You could drill a hole in the both rear footwells! lol

Did this on a fibreglass Gilburn invader i had years ago.. solved the problem but not the cause!

Just rememberd, the Gilburn came with a small plastic bucket in the back foot well… wondered what it was for until it rained!

You may be able to plate it rather than replace the whole wing.

markwon did a thread on replacing that part of the wing. Definitely worth a read ;)

i had this before and it was a build up of leaves and dirt blocking the two soak away holes under the bonnet either side in the far corners. the rain water cannot drain away and works its way up and into anywhere it can

I got this problem too (pics to follow) seatbelt anchorage in the rear is coming away from the car! looks like water is coming from under the headlining over the rear quarter headlining. Is there a tube from the sunroof drain that would have perished? or is there a channel blocked perhaps? anyone else had the same troubles?
