Stiffy

My cabriot roof is very stiff! I'm a 9 stone weakling and struggle to get it up (there's a confession!!). It's also hard to get it down all the way. Should I be greasing it? If so, where? Are there lifters that need re-gassing? Can it be converted to an automatic system easily?

have a look at the cabrio hood retrimming guide to the left, specifically the section on how to get the c pillar fabric off. also tilt seat forward and remove the plastic trims where the roof knobs poke thru. now you should have full access to the hood mech. you can remove the rams and unbolt the small hinge brackets they attach to at the bottom. check the brackets arnt bent or stiff, and check the rams for smooth operation and that they spring open firmly when compressed (you might find you dont have enough strength to compress them they're very strong!)
