Spoilers
Hi,
I'm not one for modifying the old mk1 but i'm trying to find out what the original spoilers were on the mk1 golf, i've got a 1982 1.8 gti and my car has no spoilers, the previous owner said it did have a front spoiler below the grille but this broke off and he didn't replace it.
I've seen spoilers on ebay that i think are called deep chin? what does this mean and where do they go?
Did the car have a rear spoiler?
and does anyone know where to grab one/ reasonable prices? or is it an ebay job? 8O
Many thanks
Will

You can get them from GSF Carparts, or Volksapart, or GPCVWAudi - search on the web and you should be able to find these no problem.
I got a deep spoiler for my Cabrio, and it looks great, but didn't come with any bolts to attach it AND the bolt holes are not quite in the right places - so I had to enlarge a hole (in the spoiler) to avoid unsightly spoiler gap in the middle (it was a two-part spoiler).
The spoiler is apparently not just cosmetic - it is supposed to help keep the front of the car down at high speeds. I suspect it also helps drag air through the radiator by creating a low pressure area just behind it.
