 HI PEOPLE JUST PICKED BOUGHT 1.8 8V GTI CABBY ITS GOT 125K ON THE CLOCK AND KICKS OUT WHITE SMOKE ON START UP. NO SMOKE WHEN DRIVING THOUGH THE PLUGS ARE COCKED UP WITH OIL 2

COULD IT BE THE VALVE STEM OIL SEALS


COULD ANYBODY RECCOMEND A VW SPECIALIST NEAR OR IN GLASGOW THAT COULD HELP. NOT BEDOCK THOUGH.

White smokes usualy water, is it using any water or is there any mayo on the dipstick or on the oil filler cap, if its only a bit of white smoke from cold i wouldnt worry too much

its not the head gasket, no overheating nor mayo round the radiator cap, its supposively the valve stem oil seals, runs minted after 5 mins the heater are hot and not blowing cold air.

could it be the oil leaking throught he seals and burning off for the first couple of seconds.

 i am new to this mk1 game just got rid of mk4 r32 that was brand spanking, ha ha

Oil smoke is blue, what does the smoke smell like? quick sniff will do you no harm just dont sit there too long
