Seller says car "has a hole in roof valance" - wha

According to the seller, a GTI I'm thinking of going to see has the following problem:

"the roof valance has a hole above the driver door"

Please can someone tell me what a roof valance is?  Is it a common problem? Is it serious?

Not sure what roof valance is - could just be headlining rather than a metal problem  :?

The lip along the edge of the roof maybe :dontknow:

Ask the seller whether he means the interior vinyl roof-lining (headlining), or the metal roof panel or the gutter at the edge of the roof panel.

Hopefully, it's just the headlining, as if the roof panel or gutter is rusty, the rest of the body might be a bit ropey too.
