rust

hi everyone i just wanted somones opinion on some rust on a car i might be buying. does this picture look bad ?

i've seen worse !

What are the sills and inner wings like ?? AND what year is it..??

Don't go looking for perfection when buying a mk1, they seem to work best " warts and all "  

like the one on mine, mines a bit crustier, but ive got a complete new panel to weld in there, and new filler neck to go on. so its not to bad, if your skilled with welder you can get the new panel for it

The filler neck is easy to do, i did mine :wink:  just be sure to drag the tank to get all the bits out so u have a clean new system. the body rust doesnt look too bad, if its surface only.

if thats the only iffy part of the car its nothing! looks like a good one

Seen plenty worse, but judging by the bubbles you'll need to weld in new metal to sort it properly. With rust there's always more than you can see and in the photo it looks like brown rust marks have been t-cut of. If the area has been fillered/painted in the last year or two, could be hiding worse rot - mine was :x . Check up the inside of the arch where the filler neck is mounted for rust. If this area is rust free shouldn't be to much work.
