Rust

Hi everyone, just wondered whether i could get some info about dealing with rust patches and the best way to re build the small areas. I have seen a mk1 which i am really keen on, but it has a couple of rust spots on the wheel arches and a couple of small cracks in the paint work along the side skirts which looks as though rust is developing, i just want to know, how easy it will be to do? and the best ways to do it? i think once these ares are sorted i could get a whole re-spray….on that note how much would i be looking at to get the rust patches done? and how much am i looking at for a whole car re-spray?

It depends if its just surface rust or if its holed, or worse still. You can't assume its just surface rust by looking at it!!! The only way is to get a grinder-mounted wire brush and remove all the paintwork back to bright metal, to see properly. It might all be filler?

You remove something standard and fit something non-standard to it……for more useful info, you'll need to give a bit more of a clue on what you exactly want to modify, or achieve.
