Rocker Box Cover Colour???

I?ve been working on cleaning up my under bonnet and I?m almost there but the rocker box cover still needs sorting.

Can anyone tell me what the cover was painted with when it left the factory? What colour was it? and was it painted or stove-enamelled etc? (I know its not everyone's idea of cool but I'm keeping everything original)

I?ve searched all over and looked at lots of pics but still haven?t found a definitive answer! :banghead:

Thanks!!

I think it was original black. I think that the red rocker covers make the car go faster, looks TSR..ish

err thanks for your help! I agree it does look pretty cool! I think I'll stick with the black though!

I'm from Hingham. so its not really norwich but close enough. I'm actually across in Warwick most of time at uni so the golf's been put to bed in the garage. I spoke to a guy in GFS a while ago who said he'd put me in touch with the local group but I never heard anything back! Good to hear from you, maybe I'll see you around.

VW used a Satin black finish for pretty much all the black engine bay paint, presumably heat resistant and sprayed on.

Looks good Rich. Hope the powder coating wasn't too expensive, think I'm gunna have to go for that!

The place I used had a ?20 minimum order price, so the cambelt cover and rocker cover was ?20 shot blasted and powder coated. If I'd had more parts I reckon it would have been more like ?5 per item…

If you do get it powder coated, only get the top side coated, and ask the guy to mask off all the pipework and the oil breather, or you'll get shot or powder coat (or both) in the oil…
