Reupholstering

Recommendations needed

Hi everyone,

You've been a great help in the past and I was hoping you'd come up trumps again.

I've got some grey stripe and also some bolster fabric on order from VW Heritage, but I'm a bit stuck on upholsterers to book for reupholstering the benches and bolsters of my front seats.

I'm in Northampton, so the nearer here the better, but I'd rather get it done right than get it done on my doorstep! All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks!

Tom

There's a fella on here mate called ryeupholstery. He's a nice fella and his work looks great from the pics. Worth sending him a PM.

I have a spare grey strip section in very good condition and then all you would need is to have new black bolsters sewn in?
I can also show you how (or just do it for you) to strip them so that you can just have the material sent off to ryeupholstery to have the bolsters sewn in?

I stripped mine at the weekend hence my new found knowledge on the subject…oh & I am in Northampton ;-)

cheers Martin

Have you got a 'how to' on stripping the front seats?
Would be really interested in that. Need to set about doing mine. Is it a simple job?
Thanks for any help much appreciated ;)

TeamReg have a look in the "How to" section of this forum where there are a few guides but non for the tintop gti however very similar process

I also have some photos on my restoration thread. I''ve just built the base back up after having the seat bases powdercoated so I will post some more photo's up in due course - the seats look minty fresh now ;-)
