Replacement Vin plate

Does anyone have any idea to get hold of a replacement vin plate?
Lost in the project somewhere probably during respray, all the details chackout so its no BIG issue..
However I do need identification plate for mot, Doesn't have to be a 'proper' vin but I want to get it sorted properly.
Any ideas?

Can you not pop into the local Police station for advice?

you probly need to speak to dvla, as i'm not sure we should advise you on this like the post above says try the police but i'm not sure they could help really, there be more inclined to wanna know why etc and could open a bag of hassle for ur self

You can get them from certain places, the d.v.l.a should be able to advise you on it.

You'll need the logbook and the chassis number present (and readable,) on the car. They may want the paint taking away so they can check it hasn't been welded in.

On m y old mini I bought a replica plate and had it stamped it up.

The reason I had to do this was I went from a steel front end to a Carbon Fibre one and somewhere along the line I lost my original plate.

As far as I am aware it's not illegal as you are using the correct details on the plate.

Contact VW via your local dealer. About 20 years ago I restored an ex works rally mini and needed the a new vin plate, Police came down and had a look and then I had take the car to DVLA office in LEEDS who gave me written confirmation of the vehicle details,vin plate was then issued by Rover.
