Refitting plastic trim to front window seal on gti.

Need tip on how to do this? S/thing with string? Also fitting top gasket to engine block. Any hidden pitfalls here or just unbolt and replace for s/one with bags of enthusiasm but learning mechanics by doing jobs? Also how hard to change clutch on gti cabriolet ml 1? Gears really sloppy!! Cheers
