radio position

Hi
I have recently bought a 1990 mk1 gti karmann cabrio but a I need advice on the stereo position
Currently it has been fitted badly into the top of the centre console, however the switch panel for the electric hood (discounnected) has been pushed loosely into the gap at the bottom of the console, please help with images if poss
