Problems with center console! I'm new'ish so please help lol

Hello lads and lasses,

I'm new to all this restoration stuff and also i'm pretty new with Mk1 Golfs. To be honest i've wanted one since i was 11 years old (i'm now nearly 19) even though i've been mad on them i've not taken much notice of interiors and so i have a problem i'm unsure about. I have a mk1 Golf C 3 door and the center console that was in the car when i bought it didn't seem to look right so when i grabbed it i found out the reason why, because it wasn't actually fitted at all, never mind it not being fitted in the right place. Looking at the colour change in the carpet it seems that on the model i have i don't have a center console and i only have some sort of plastic protector that goes around the bottom of the gear stick. Any help on what my car is meant to have or any pics would be gratefull and a big help. If you need me to post some pics first thought then let me know and i'll sort something out for you guys.

Yes, you'll be right on your thoughts. Yours would have had a centre speaker between the under dash trays and the little plastic surround at the base of the gearstick methinks. Are you looking to restore it to standard ?  Got a gear surround (black) here somewhere ……

i've not seen many with the centre speaker, they are out there but you may not have one. but it doesn't get in the way if memory serves me wright anyway.

I've got the centre speaker and plastic surround on my 1.1L, which i'm more than likely gettin rid of. I want to have a metal plate guide made for the gearstick instead of the gator and plastic surround (Rallycar Esq)

m6m62 - Thanks, yeah i'm going to restore it to standard first and then maybe change a few things around next year. How much would you want for the black gear surround?

volkswarren -  As far as i'm aware i don't think mines got or originally had any speaker there but i can't say for sure.

P_DUBby - How much would you be asking for the speaker and gear surround if i end up working out that mines supposed to have the speaker there too?
