Painting new panel

Painting new front panel soon and after opinion on what the best approach would be? Should I flat back or strip the black panel primer - VAG panel and primer seems good finish/quality so tempted just to flat it. What are the benefts of etch primer - hear its good for welding through but dont need that.

Should I just put white primer (car is white) on top of the black primer? Going to put stone chip paint over lower part of panel before top coating it. Anyone know of a hard protective paint (preferably brushable) that I can paint on the lower inside of front panel. Old one got really crappy there.

Yo Markwon

See Hairy's posting lower down this topic in "Underbody Coating"….he refers you to

http://www.rust.co.uk/

Which would seem to make sense of you protection requirements

Cheers - you reminded me that I actually own this book   . Had been lent to my brother for the last year or so, have now got it back. Didn't look at it properly before, seems to cover most things. Got some zinc primer which has anti-corrosive properties and plasticised stone chip paint. Will top that off with L90E 78 alpine white had mixed up at paint shop.
