paint finish
Was wondering what you do after the paint to give it a shiney smooth finish.
Do you sand then polish and wax or do you put clear laq on it or what? I am confused. :dontknow:

For a decent long term finish you need to remove every trace of rust and use some decent primer (preferably etch). Then a couple of coats of primer filler might be needed. This can be flatted back with 400 grit wet and dry to get the surface nice and smooth. I would then prime again and then top coat - try and get around 7-8 top coats on, this will allow you flat it back a bit.
When the top coat has had a week pr two to dry and harden up, flat back a bit with 800 grit, then 1200 grit wet and dry with a bit of water. Once you have the surface flat and even you can put the shine back in it with some decent poishing compund such as the Farcela brand sold by most paint factors.
Good luck
