Paint-cracks. What can i expect?

Hi!

My cabby's paint has cracked just beneath the left back-windows. Right there where the "hinge" for the hood is fastened.
My plan is to sand it down this winter - and check but before i start on it i would love to know what i can expect "in there".

Is it a know place for rust or others? Or can the "tension" from the hinge make a bad paint job crack?

It is a regular crack through the paint and filler. It is probably alle the way to the metal. I took a look on the inside a little while ago when i replaced the door-cards and i couldn't see anything as far as my head could get in to the panel :D

I will se if i can get pictures of it.

Sorry for the bad English. I am from Denmark (driving in the "right" side of the road   )

Could be filler wasnt cured properly before the paint was applied?

Needs stripping to fix - so i'm sure you'll find out soon!! Good luck!

As above, i doubt to much damage has occured, if the crack is hairline water will stuggle to get in becuase of its natural surface tension.

It can crack also if the bodyshop didnt use correct grades for the filler to "grip" onto….

its very important to stick to the grades suggested by the manufacturer.

If the paint hasn't started to buble you'd think that  it hasn't started to rust, or at least not much.
