Paint Code Mystery
No evidence of a sticker ever having been in place in the boot or anywhere else on my 1981 GLS - having checked everywhere now it's stripped down.
Nothing in the nice neat owner's manual or comprehensive paperwork either.
So I called a VW dealer and the very helpful woman there was as mystified as me when the database came back with…Kalahari Beige metallic Y4Y4! And an interior code of Marine!!!
Here's the car…plainly neither!
And according to http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colour_codes_volkswagen_audi.htm Kalahari Beige was never available as metallic and wasn't around in 1981.
Sooo. German efficiency not infallible. And what colour IS this?

Thanks dubboy…sure you're right.
As soon as I posted, I thought 'doh, always get at least 3 opinions' so rang a few more dealers…2 of them couldn't find anything at all! But JBC in Ashford were on the case, and told me if it was green and that model could ONLY be Lido Green or Inari Silver…and it sure isn't Lido Green!
