Original VW sills?

I have started removing the spot welds from the sills and started worrying about how my pattern panels are going to fit.  I then wondered if maybe an original pair could be had from anywhere at all?   Are the south african sills the same as the mk1 sills?  Is there anywhere in germany that might still have original sills?  I dont want to end up with poor fitting sills welded to my car as this would spoil all my hard work.  Has anyone any experience of pattern sills?  Some pictures would be nice so i can get to sleep tonight :? .

What about the Volkswarhouse in Germany?they seem to have all the right gear over there,i saw some sills they had at VW Mania in Belgium this summer and they looked of good quality.

They will still be aftermarket ones unfortunately.  I bought a rear valance a while back from hadrian and after a bit of trial fitting decided to try the volkswarenhaus rear valance which turned out to be no better, i am guessing it will be the same with the sills, thanks for mentioning them though.  They are spot on for the range of stuff available for the mk1.

Yes i personally think they are a good bunch as i chatted with Axle the owner a lot when i was at Worthersee Treffen in May and they seem on the ball with all mk1`s stuff.

I've fitted pattern sills from Eurocarparts in the past and they go on a treat.

Your worrying over nothing

I suppose after getting the inner arches to fit the sills will probably be a piece of cake in comparision.  If they ended up being slightly out i know i would notice it all the time.  I havent heard any bad feedback about the pattern sills so it wouldent make sense to buy any more, cheers for putting my mind at rest (a little bit).

yep, you'll find the sill is easier than the arch ( I did anyway).. just a matter of making sure it's clamped in the right place and the door/sill gap is level
