One roof fit all
got a 1992 cabriolet, I need a replacement hood.
I've been given advice that it is much easier to get a complete roof - frame and all and do a straight swap.
Are all cabriolet roof's and frames the same or are there variations between different years of cars.
cheers for any help

AFAIK the frame for an electric hood mechanism is different to that of a manual. I also believe VW made some changes to the basic hood mechanism in the late 80's so you'll need to get as new a one as possible. If your frame is ok however I do recommend you give fitting just the material hood a go; I've just done it and bar one silly mistake it wasn't as bad as I thought, and could save you a lot of money.
1989 MK1 VW Golf GTi Cabriolet, 'All White Edition' - currently having a new blue roof fitted. Yes it's not white but it requires less Cif to clean
