new to this.... hood swap question, 82 Rabbit to 84 Gti?

hi all, new to this.

got my 84 Mk1 GTi on the road two weeks ago in Dublin, delighted, engine perfect.

hood has jammed while down and mechanics and vinyl are knackered.

any reason why i cant take the hood from my dead 82 US import Rabbit and put it on the 84?  anyone got a link to instructions?

any advice appreciated

have the old hood working now, will get prepared for the switch.

next question - Haynes manuals, is there a specific one for the cabriolet or are hood details included in the Mk1 and GTi manuals?  

glad to find so many enthusiasts here, will be back with more questions.
