new cab hood ebay
Vinyl hoods on ebay at £100. Has anybody had one? What are they like? I've just had my 1980 GLi cab reshelled and resprayed. considering all the work and expense I am considering a new hood. During the swap, the immaculate hood has sustained a slight rip near 2 screw plate. :x I don't suppose it could be invisible mended? Anyway, If the hoods at £100 are good, I will probably replace. I don't want to spoil it now and I don't want to buy hood at £100 and wish I'd spent £200! Advice please? :dontknow:

i havnt replaced my hood yet, but my guess is you get what you pay for.
There is often a debate on here as some swear by mohair, but others say depending on where you use car and store it, vinyl is better / looks more factory ….
I did meet a stall owner at Bristol Volksfest last year who sells the goods on ebay for around £100.00 and to my eye they were good quality for the dosh, but then i hadnt seen to many other to make a good comparison
where are you based ? are you planning on fitting yourself, maybe you could give nothern car hoods a call and get a price for supplied and then supplied and fitted, also if you post up your location, someone on here may have used local supplier and fitter they may recommend.
Keep us updated as need to change my hood soon ! just waiting for mises to stop spending all my spare cash !

I'm based in Worksop, near Sheffield. I can get the hood professionally fitted, so not a problem just buying hood. I had a mohair hood fitted to my other cab and wouldn't have another. Too much bother to clean. Apparently the ones on ebay are car hood wharehouse in chessington. They should be good hoods at that rate? I just wondered if anybody had used them and would recommend them? I see northern hood guys recommended on here, but not the guys at chessington and wondered why?
Thanks for reply

£100 hoods
I can see that northern car hoods are recommended on forum, I presume this is for a reason and will buy from northern car hoods if nobody has a good word for the guys at car hood wharehouse in chessington.

It all depends on your budget.
I have done 3 roofs now.
Had 2 from the states and one was from Ebay that jelly belly and I did on his car was off ebay, a mohair one.
It was from this company
http://www.car-hood.co.uk/
It is mohair and was a fantastic fit, if you pm jelly I am sure he would point you in the right direction as to where he got it from off the bay.

you need to be careful with the hood on ebay and make sure they are good
you really need BAS International hoods as these are the best quality
my mohair cost me £200 ish and it good
alot of the companies one ebay selling the vinyl hoods are factory seconds now i don't know what makes them seconds.
simply message the person asking for there supplyer to make sure they are good one and ask if they are seconds whats the reason for this.

The ones on ebay are normally rejects and have faults.
I got a new vinyl hood on here actually from user funk-star was £120 for a white hood and it fitted perfect. My car looks a million times better.

i've just ordered one of the £105 roofs from ebay, feedback seems good, so fingers crossed!
i shall report back once it arrives and is fitted.
I've gone for white vinyl…. big design decision!! with scope to try and make my mars red clipper slightly different from the norm!
scary stuff, anywayz, ill report back when it comes and ive bashed it on.

Bought it, fitted it no problem!!
Really nice roof, and the job wasn't too hard at all.
Buy with confidence, they are great hoods!!
Well happy, the roof looks mint!
