NEED HELP CHANGING OIL ON MY CONV MK1 GOLF

CAN ANY ONE TELL ME HOW TO CHANGE THE FLUID ON MY CONVERTABLE ROOF ITS A G REG MK1 GOLF AND ALSO WHAT FLUID GOES IN IT. YOUR HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED

Hi,

why does it need changing?

You can access the pump and reservoir by removing the left hand side boot card by pressing the centre pins out of the black retainers.

You could drain the lot by removing the reservoir, I suppose or use a medicine syringe with tube to draw it out.
Alternatively undo the hydraulic,  lines from the pump body, have some cloths to catch any fluid.

You need to check the level with the top down also.
also bleed the system once it's all back in place.
I use a medicine syringe to top up.

Undo the thumb screw that sticks out the pump body, this operates a bypass valve, raise the top 2-3 times by hand, finishing with the top in the down position, recheck level and tighten filler plug and tighten Thumb screw, put key in IGN, you don't turn it, just press the up and down button to see how it works.
If a bit iffy, slightly undo the filler bung to allow air to escape and operate the top a couple of times electrically.
