my convertable leaks!!

Sorry to be boring but my soft top leaks.  I have just sucked out most of Decembers rainfall from the foot-wells, the car is now SORN and covered in a tarpaulin (I know should have done that bit before the rain!).
I tried to tighten the handles on the roof and that has only tightened the roof and not made it water tight.  When it rains the water seems to stream in from that join.
Someone also told me that the convertible has a plug hole or was that someone pulling my leg?.

What some people have found to be the cause of this is the foam gasket missing or replaced with silicone sealant. The gasket goes in between the hood frame and the metal brackets that the rubber side seals fit into.

Whats the condition like of the roof itself? If its shrunk a bit then this wont help especially if its bowed up in the middle due to broken side tension cables. More water will be getting to the seals and so there is more chance water will get in.
