Monster Water leak WITH PICTURES ADDED
Got up this morning to find literally 5-6 inches of water in the passenger side foot wells front and back, the water was so high that the passenger underside of the seat was wet. I have been searching for this leak for ages but cannot find where its coming in.
It has never been this bad before I was shocked!!!!!!
The carpet around the sides is all dry
The seats are dry
Under the dash is dry
No holes in bodywork
Sill drain holes clear
Little drainy hole things under bonnet just under windscreen nice and clear
Door panels clear and properly sealed
Windows fit in the seals properly no leaks there
No sunroof
No floopy top
No holes under car or in sills or anywhere
Anybody got any other ideas I need to step up the search and find it before Tafy turns into my 7 year old daughters mobile swimming pool….
Long Live Tafy

Check all the grommets are fitted in the firewall (between engine bay and cabin)
Check your scuttle panel cover - any cracks could let water in through the heater blower
Scuttle panel could be rusted under the front window rubber - I know you said behind the dash was dry though.
Is the plastic lining on the doors intact? Water can sometimes get in through there.
Check grommets in door posts for speaker wires.
Can't think of anything else!

grommets on door posts is a new one to look out for, but the door cars etc etc checked and sealed.
I will let you know if I make any progress.

If everything seems sealed and sorted I reckon it may well be a dodgy scuttle under the windscreen rubber. I had a similar issue and this turned out to be the culprit (although I could feel a bit of water up around the back of the dash)…

I will try this
I will let you know how we get on….I hate the rain…..
But on the up side Tafy is gorgeous with or without the wet look….

but i felt the carpet was slightly wet up behind the dash center console , so looked in my scuttle panel there was leaves and all sorts of crap in there
cleaned it out and pained it all out , then bacically poured waxoil underseal in there in a long line like where the water would take
and fingers crossed i have had no leak's yet..

Fire…check
Water…check
Only wind and earth to go…keep an eye on those weather reports!
Hope he gets sorted soon, seems so unfair when you clearly love him to bits!

I hope Tafy's not got a curse of the elements :

The winds do rattle me a bit but where I live there are no massive trees to fall on Tafy so that's ok and I will not drive to the edge of the cliffs here in Cornwall just in case.
Well hopefully I shall find said water leak today, Cabby is coming over to fit my new filler neck then we shall be doing hunt the damn leak…and it is unfair because Tafy has had his share of problems in the last year but i am hoping that I am coming to the end of them now….my pocket is not happy spent loads of money on him this year, and its not even money to make him look better its just money to keep him on the road…hopefully the next bucket full of money will go on getting his chrome bits re-chromed and a nice re-spray, got a new interior for him and new dash…fingers crossed…

did you find the leak?
Yea thanks for asking but I dont know how to go about fixing, I have one coming under the dash and the rear passenger door is leaking, I have a spare door so that is going to get changed.
However my Tafy now visits the salon on a regular basis to have a blow dry and a towel down.!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need help!!!!

it's so depressing
I have had my windscreen fitted 3 times. They keep telling me its not that that is the problem. It seems strange though that since last time they fitted it the leak seems to be coming in at different points
its really coming in now. I have towels and have to change them a few times a week
its coming in under the dash somewhere and I really don't know what to do. I don't really fancy taking the dash out
:dontknow:
this is a picture looking up from the passenger footwell

Mine had only a smallish bit of rust that was letting in a whole lot of water. I dremeled out any rust, treated with rust killer, primed, filled and primed again, new windscreen rubber and no more water…
Luckily (or not) a rock had smashed my screen on the motorway so I took the opportunity to sort it before the insurance coughed and came and fitted a new one.
[edit]Do either of you have the black plastic wind deflectors fitted? The way they fit (ie under the side of the windscreen rubber) can sometimes let water in too…[/edit]

Taking the dash out is a half hour job tops. Just need to take all the bottom half trays out, remove all switches and heater controls, undo the speedo cable, disconnect the fresh air tubing from the vents and the undo the 4 bolts (2 either side) and it will just pull out.
Will make it much easier to see what is going on - get a hose or watering can on it once the dash is out and you'll be able to see easily where it is coming in.
