MK4 SEATs in mk1 gti

does anyone know if mk4 gti front seats will fit in my 1983 gti and if so what changes would i have to make to attach them ?

I'm going to be trying this very thing! I've bought a MK4 Recaro interior, cheap!
Off the top of my head I can imagine that they won't be a straight forward job! I would recommend that the airbags are (carefully!) removed first!  I've had some experience fitting other seats to the MK1, the main trouble being the floor beam. I suggest you test fit the seat, place it in and find where it sits (usually a modern seat will be way too high at the front!). I use bits of wood (or anything to hand) to hold the seat  in the rough position, using this as a start point I measure how and where to attach  some original seat legs. I never alter the shells/ fittings on my Golfs!  I find that eventually I may want to put my OG seats back in! I always like to have some modern seats in as it saves my originals condition. It's an easy enough job to refit them just for shows!
I'll post up the method and processes I have used on here, when I get round to doing the job. (add it to my large list!).

missed out on a nice set of MK4 gti leather seats today blue middles, went for £235. would have looked nice in my golf…

Will keep looking, There are members on here I have seen with Mk4 golf seats fitted so It can be done!
