mk4 dash into mk1 cab

does anybody know or has done a mk4 dash into a mk1. ive seen a mk1 with a caddy/polo/seat ibiza dash. but is the mk4 the same size.  mk1 golf dash upgrades info and pics please | Volkszone Forum

MK4 dash is huge , why would you want to ?

I think the closest you'll get to a mk4 dash swap would be to get a dash out of a South African mk1 Citi R Line golf. But that going to be hard to find/source. I think it mght be the same as some smaller Skoda dashes though?

its only cause ive put a 20vt in and whole wiring loom and would save a whole lot of hassle finding and splicing wires where i could just use mk4 switches with the dash or if they fit the polo dash. do you know where would be the best place to try to find a south african dash???

ok guys i hold my hands up in shame. the mk1 dash is 50" and the mk4 dash is 53" max size i could push in is 51.5". so will def b going down another road. shame cause i found a whole mk4 dash for £30 at a localish breakers.

skoda fabia dash is same as SA citi golf dash

You would be better leaving the MK1 dash and putting the MK4 clocks ignition etc in the glove box so you can use the MK4 ECU . Try Edition38 or Club GTi for wiring information as this a common swop in the MK2 and MK3 Golfs but not as common in a MK1 . Most MK1 as you no use other aftermarket ECU's .

hi there, i have just completed a mk4 polo 6n dash board into a mk1 golf cab conversion and its very easy.. and looks the bollocks in my opinion.. ive fitted the polo heater controls electric window switches, seat cordoba clocks and even the stalks fit 2.. if you require any info let me know and il try ta help
