Not sure its such a wise idea to try and draw the club into the issues at hand, and then to slate the club on Edition 38. So, I've clarified things over there.

Mate the money ive spent on this mk1 a 200 saving on a set of bumpers is the least of my worries, but you are correct i most prob should have went it alone.

An i wasnt slating the club meraly the group buy, dont see how this refelcts on the club, the GB wasnt anything to do with MK! OC other than the fact that it was disccused on a thread here.

I think there has been some carfull choice of words either that or most of us have missed the bit where it said they would finish the bumpers with ducktape. Im sure i asked the question about irons, endcaps and rubbing strips actually, must trawl the pages and find it.

Im sure you can understand where im comming from, i bet you wouldnt put them on any of your cars

well after 3 weeks 12 ignored emails and 3 phone calls to germany the rubbing strips arrived, the condition is pathetic all scratched and damaged. Think they are designed to stick to the bumpers, very poor quality.

Seems like everyone is out to rip me off at the moment  :banghead:

You want original ones, not cheap copies that are not to original spec. They are only available used, not off the shelf. Like most copy parts, you get what you pay for. In this case it doesn't even sound like you got that. I assume you asked about the fixing before you bought them. Hope you get your money back.

Re the rubbing strips. we are just finishing some textured molds to produce textured strips for the metal bumpers, but our plan was to produce these in GRP, and also smooth carbon. We have made sure they fit in the gap on the metal bumpers as a nice snug fit and not sitting abreast of it like the other ones available do. Also proper fittings on the back to bolt in to place, not stick on jobs.

You guys then got me thinking of rubber and as we've recently been doing some work for some guys who deal with the police force and rubber components (for backs of a special PC they use in cars) and I reckon with a little bit more work (basically I need to make another piece of tooling) I reckon its possible to make them in in a rubber material with a textured finish, so I'm just going thru a pricing up excercise to see how viable it is, as the rubber compounds we use arent cheap and nor are the fixings (5 at ?1.50 each to start with !!).
Once I've done the pricing side, if its looking reasonable I'll post it up on here. I have a sample part I can take a piccie of so you guys can see the type of textured finish I'm talking about if anyones interested.

Yep

We have made the Carbon rub strips. Anyone who was at Ed38 would have seen a set on JayMac's MK1. So Carbon ones are finished and ready for ordering. (can post up piccies of them on the car is anyones wants to see them)

We can also produce textured Black version in Fibreglass, mold is ready to go. (note this are textured, not smooth, black and shiny!!)

Rubber ones, all being well, shoud be in the next week or so. Just got one more "little" bit left to finish and then can produce the first set.

We'll soon have rubber rubbing strips.  Just finalising the tooling.  Will be very similar to the original.
