MK1 Rear badge advice needed

Ive got a Sportline that has a 'Golf' badge on the rear. For completeness I want to remove it and include a 'Golf GTI' badge but understand they are attached by 3 pins? given this, is it possible to attach?

Any help much appreciated

I'm guessing your car has a Mk2 style badge on it like this….

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130130163272&rd=1&rd=1

If so then it should have 3 pins on it and they are spaced just like those on the later style MK1 Golf GTI badge you need. I think Ebay is your best bet, I don't believe Trimsport do the later style, just the early type.

Ive got a MK1 'Golf' not the MK2 version on your link. On the 'Golf GTI' badge is one of the pins behind the badge contained on the 'GTI' section? if so I wont be able to attach.

On the original badge of the earlier (non cabrio usually) badge the pins are behind the G, F & T as you go from left to right. Because of the spacing you would only get one of them to match up with a receiving hole in the boot llid of later cars. I think Trimsport ones still come without the pins so that would do the job but I'd carefully remove the plastic grommets that are usually located in the boot lid, which the pins locate into. That way you'll have a smooth surface to apply it to. I'd make sure the trim tape covers over these holes too mind.

Just use a razor blade to cut the pins off and use some badge tape to secure it.

Thats what I do when i have to remove them for customers
