Ive just bought a mk1 a reg convertible, and i was wondering if any of you guys out there know where i can get the original pattern cloth so that i can retrim the seats. The interior is the white leather bolsters with the white with black stripes cloth inserts.

Get your marigolds out lads (and lasses)……
I used our old trusty twin tub, water warm, and Lux flakes I think. And they did NOT shrink. The only problem was with the rear seat backrest - it has hardboard strips top and bottom to hold the cloth into the frame - this nearly disintegrated so I replaced them with thin wood strips stapled in.
When you strip the seats take your time.
Note how everything comes apart (I didn't !!!!! :banghead:  :banghead: )
Use strong long nosed pliers to remove the Hog rings, throw these rings away.
When rebuilding get yourselves some plastic cable ties to use instead of the Hog rings.
While the front seats are apart check the cables for the seat back release (2 door cars) and this is the time to repair those side bolsters.

Mine were a dark gray and had black marks before…..pic above taken after washing machine treatment.

My E-reg cabrio has an interior like that in the photo.  Is that from the "white convertible"?  My drivers' seat was torn to shreds and the seat foam was crumbling.  I got another seat foam from an old Mk2 passenger seat and fitted that - they're the same size.  Until I can find a supply of fabric though, my drivers seat doesn't match the rest of the interior - its a grey one from another Mk2.  Still, its a lot more comfortable to drive…

Try Dave at DB Car Trim, Blackpool 01257 612252. I have a 1984 cabby and the seats were ripped and bolsters sagging. He had some beige cloth in stock that was as near as the original after 20 years. When it was in the car you could hardly tell the difference!

There is a postal system in place that he offers and has had good write ups and features in the various mags.

Give him a try.
