Do I or don't I? Examples please....

Hi guys, I have owned a 1989 clipper for only a few weeks now and one of the first jobs has been to remove the body kit so that It can be resprayed as it had. Few scuffs and scratches. My dilemma is that now the kit is off I am tempted to maybe fit the earlier bumpers with Crome trim etc. I would love to hear advice from anyone that has done this, and particularly would like to know what would I need to do regarding the holes around the car, particularly the brackets that hold the skirts on. Is there a smaller trim that would cover these or would I need to have them welded over? Like I say I am split at the moment as I have seen great inspiration on this site for both shapes.....HELP!!!

Series 1 cabbys had plastic bumpers…….

Other obvious differences were a different hood and different dashboard. There are loads of others, for example different fusebox, wheels, etc etc

If you keep the kit off, you can replace the holes on the cill with the  early clips for the single chrome strip and put one of those on. The Long oblong clips underneath could be removed and then rubbber grommets fitted into them. Then Schutz them over.

You could put whatever you like on bumper wise, someone put a pic up the other of a modded chrome Fiesta bumper on.

Plus I could then have the clips off you for my car..lol.
Lost most of them driving the car without the kit on… Doh.

cheers

I guess the look I was thinking was more of the chrome bumper/trim look rather than a standard looking s1….got a few weeks to decide before the car goes to the bodyshop!

Chortle, ill keep you posted if I do decide ;)

Keep the body kit on, it protects the sills and wheel arches from stones, mud etc. I prefer the look of the later cabriolets.
