lump in bolster !

my drivers o/s bolster has developed two small hard"lumps" . Feels like big staples. Upholstery unworn,but am worried that the lumps will bring on localised wear.
Don'y know how to get behind the fabric to have a look. Don't want to damage anything since the car is immac. 1989 GTI Cab
Any thoughts as to what they might be … or advice on getting at them?

im sure ive read some place that the covers can be removed and re-fitted quite easily without any damage.
