Lower Grill Inserts

Not having had any in the spaces provided, I purchased the lower two grill panels the other day for my 1800 Golf cabriolet. I remember the guy saying that they were 'handed' but can't recall which way round now  Can anyone help? One side is vented the other solid, both have round 'punch out' circles for the head lamp wash tube to go through so before I punch a hole out only to get it the wrong way round I thought that I'd ask first. Is it right that even numbers are for the off side and odd for the nearside??

I didn't know it was called an apron but if its the bit behind the bumper below the grill but above the spoiler then thats the bit!!
Thanks for the info, its 7.10pm and I'm off to fit them. All knuckles currently intact….lets see how long that lasts for!!
Thanks :D

Do VAG still have them? My offside one has 'disappeared' !!!!
Just been to my favourite friendly parts guys in town, to be told they cnnot even access the system for VW parts as they ONLY deal in SEAT stuff now, VW parts MUST be obtained at their Dover branch - further to go and a new lot to get to know. A real shame as these guys were aces.

Thanks for that info guys.  I am off to my local VW dealers (about 300 metres away) to ask the tame parts chap to find out if he can get these for me!

My local dealer is Sinclair Garage, Neyland, Pembrokeshire and I must say they have shown extreme patience with me during the strip and respray of my car last summer - they put in hours at the computer finding strange parts in saddle brown!!!  I expect they say 'here comes that darned woman with the Golf' when they see me pull in (in a loud V8 Rover coz the Golf is tucked up for the winter)!

By the way, anyone know how long it takes for a photo to be approved for uploading?  Cheers

I got mine from GPC Luton (see detail on previous message under Body and Trim section). I put mine in last night and it only took about 15 minutes bearing in mind that I had to sort the headlamp wash out as well. Knuckle count afterwards revealed that only one had been grazed!!!

Y'all

Noting Prowlers comment "My offside one has 'disappeared' "….I "lost" a nearside one a while back and I'm sure it didn't find its own way out!..

If your paint jobs finished, I'd be tempted to superglue the b*ggers in!…worked well on my grille badge when the "beasty boys" were lurking about (the local fans though a mat black badge was "in"…it wasn't …had to be  a chrome one so mine misteriously reappeared in my friends driveway a few days later)

Cheers
