leaking roof

hi all i have a mk1 golf 1.8 carb softtop

but the roof has a leak

basicly where the roof joins the top of the window on the passanger door the rubber tube like thing that runs along top of door somehow fills up with water and drips through the screw where it screws in ner the top of the small triangle window at the front of the door
when you put the roof down all the water collected in the rubber tube bit poors out where it folds

can you buy new rubber bits or does somewhere in or near bristol sort out leaky roofs

cheers for your help dubbers

I've got this on the passenger side, it sits in the metal channel untill you drive off or fold the roof.  I haven't got to the bottom of it yet but I suspect its 1 of 2 things, either the hood skin is leaking from the sewn seam, or its because the side tension cable is missing so its bowing up and allowing the water to get in.

I reckon its the cable, as i waterproofed my roof and mine leaks in the same place.

Loving any chrome or carbon bits...

I had this on my cab and sadly the vinyl had just become so old it was no longer waterproof, so water ran down the inside and collected in the channels. You should have some black, flat plastic strips that sit under the edge of the roof when it is down to stop water blowing in under the outer skin. Are they there?

1989 MK1 VW Golf GTi Cabriolet, 'All White Edition' - currently having a new blue roof fitted. Yes it's not white but it requires less Cif to clean :)
