Leaking Fuel Accumulator

Dear all,
Novice and newbie to all things VW, but hoping to get a tired old girl back with a spring in her step.
I have a mk1 Golf GTI Cabriolet which has a fuel leak.
I bought the car as a project a 30th birthday present for the other half and was a non-runner before I picked it up. (The Car not the missus…! )

On getting it home and before all the damp weather started I found a fuel leak on the pipe between the accumulator and supply line. Was a braided hose which was cut at one end and then jubilee clip join to the rubber main line to fuel filter. On speaking to Crazyquiff I bought and new hose and brass join which screws into braided hose end then is clamped into mains line back to engine. This is all as tight as I can make it.

When I turn the car over I get no start on the engine and the line/accumulator leaks like the titanic.. seems like when the ignition is on the pressure builds or pump works etc and but no feed to the engine to start.

Anyone know what my next steps will need to be? Don't want to get be a tool and send it down the garage as this is my project and I'm a stubborn git so I want and need to learn.
Have the Haynes manual but it's not 100% clear.. I may have to start at page 1…
Would it be the accumulator itself or something else I'll need to replace?

if its from a banjo bolt try buying 2 new copper o'rings for the pipe that is leaking, i believe vw can still supply them. if its where the lines screw into the accumulator itself then you'll have to replace the accumulator unfortunatly, unless the CQ lines are faulty

Many thanks rubjonny, gives me something to go on now. Don't think it's the Banjo join. Leaking from hose I replaced from crazyquiff's shop.
So as it screws into accumulator and it was doing it before I replaced the part, looks like I'm now on the hunt for an accumulator.

Cheers again for your time and advice.

is it pre or post-84? pre-84 the accumulator is same as mk2 gti and 16v k-=jet, if its post-84 its a bit smaller and you want post 84 cab/rocco one. if you can find somewhere to squeeze the earlier acccumulator though it will still work, just a case of do you have room!
