Lacquering wheels

I have just sprayed a wheel in my garage which i will be lacquering in the next couple days. Do i rub the paint down once dry with some fine paper to remove the small dust particles which always settle on wet paint or will this make the wheel dull when lacquer has dried.

Cheers Luke

When you rub down the fresh paint it will end up having a matt texture but this will go when you clear coat it afterwards. Are you spraying in the garage? If so get a plant water sprayer and spray a fine coating of water everywhere and this should keep the dust to a minimum.

you can go over the wheel with a grey scotch pad, before you lacquer wipe the wheel with a tac rag to get any dust off, make sure your workshop is dry and warm, if you get any dust in the finished wheel, when it's completely dry, flat with 2000 wet n dry, then polish. good luck.
