is there supost to be a red line  arount the dash in a sportline i was just flicking through some pics and have seen on one of the dash boards there is a red insert that fits around the frount (around the clock and stereo) if so were can i get one

No there shouldn't, wasn't the red surround only fitted on early S2 GTIs?

my mate has a red trim on his gti cab wether its original is another question. i thought it was only for gti's so maybes gti cabs and tintops had them?

Not all GTIs had it but a lot of people have painted the red line in on their plain black fascias.

I'm pretty sure I've read on this forum that it was only the early S2 GTIs that had it from the factory.

Yeah, I think it was just the 81 GTI models that had the red piping round the dash and vents.

i think too that it was only early mk1 gti that had the red piping around the dash/clocks.
