Indicators don't fit!

Indicators don't fit!

I've just bought some smoked indicator lenses for my Rivage off gaybay and realised that they are for small bumpered mk1's.  Do Mk2 big bumper indicators fit or where can I get some to fit the clipper style bumpers?

Well as they are now not needed, any one interested? I paid ?8 for them inc P&P.

Loads of people including myself fit them anyway!

Yes they don't fill the hole properly but it's not that bad!

One idea I had was to buy two sets and place them both in, one above the other. As yours are smoked I'd add a set of clear ones underneath really.

I've just bought a pair of crystal ones off the bay and will be looking out for another set to place in front so they fit better. Mine only cost 99p + p&p, if I get another set for the same price I'll be happy.

Sorry, I meant that the shape of the lense on the back is different to the lense unit fitted in the bumper. The Orange one is much deepeer and is flat with only 1 small lug sticking out.

Can you see the difference?

Just checked again, there is no way on thisn planet thet they fit. The luggs on the back of the smoked lenses make the one side stand proud of the refelctor. Leaving a gap about 2-3mm between the lense and the plastic rear section. Do I have to get different lenses to fit the clipper style bumper indicator units?

Removal of the lugs takes but a minute and a one small pair of pliers.

You can however sell/return the ones you bought and buy a set that will fit straight out of the box. These retail on the bay for about ?25.00 + p&p and will fit like a glove. To be honest though I've never met anyone that's forked out ?30+ for a pair of indicator lenses.

You decide!

I did exactly the same as you mate, only I forked out 20 quid for the full indicator including the lense only to find out they don't look right when fitted. Here's what we both need below, I haven't talked myself into spending another 35 quid yet but i'm sure it'll happen before the end of the month.

Ah ha, cheers, but i've now cut the luggs off the back and made some spacers to fit. They look quite good i'll pop some pics up later.

This is the thread I've been looking for!!!  (Ignore my email Tian)

Mk1Junkie, the ebay link is now out of date, do you know if you can still buy these? Need the same sized ones as pictured by bouchay.

I'd rather spend the money on the correct fitting parts than trying to bodge it.

Mate, the 'correct sized ones are soooo expensive. The scene tax on 'em is madness ?30.00 all in for a piece of plastic? :naughty:

I botched mine with a clever rubber seal behind the lense and you'd never know. Your bid your choice tho.

Had a look too and can't see any on fleabay either.

If you want to, I can laser cut some spacers so you can use standard lenses. You have to cut the luggs off, but they work. Mine have been on for ages and no problems yet.

Sorry, just realised that I never put a pic up of the finished product.

No close ups tho.

That's outrageous!!!

I'm not saying I haven't spent money in the same way, but there's something about paying that kind of cash on indicator lenses they're just taking the Michael.

I am gonna need pics of the results tho, just in case I change my mind.

Hey Bathy. Sorry bout the late reply. Just noticed your post. The seller's name is 'maxi-moritz' but he currently doesn't have anything listed. As mentioned above they're certainly not cheap but i bit the bullet and forked out the 37 quid inc postage about 6 weeks ago for some. The quality is spot on and they fit perfectly. Much better then bodging something together in my opinion.

Don't want to annoy you mate but are those the deep ones? They look like the standard ones to me. Looks good though. Just like me you kept the quad lights and added crystal cross hairs, nice!

Hi T they are indeed the deep ones, trust me, they are an exact copy of the nasty yellow ones I took off!

I'll pull one out a bit later and show yah more photos; having spent ?40 on them I'm happy to show my little bits of plastic off to anyone who's interested lol

Quad lights rule and keep the VW badge on there, be proud of the brand!

I might even have to show you my botch. I'm waiting for some new bulbs to arrive in the post first though. When they do I'll take 'em apart and show you what I did.
