How many litres of paint does it take to...
…fully respray a mk1 golf?
anyone able to answer me this so i can gauge a price for buying the pain.
also is there a VW type of paint that is very close to looking like the nissans midnight purple?

i spoke to a few garages and they say that 2L of paint is never going to be enough to respray the car. so how much will i be needing then? some of you must know as you guys/girls have resprayed their cars?

Hi, my mates just finished spraying his mk3, he ended up using 3 liters of cellulose paint with 3 liters of thinners, so effectively 6 liters, he was told 2 liters would be enough so bought a 2l kit which had 1l of each but went no where,
in that other thread it says to use 2k paint, i'm not sure if this is the same as 2 pack but you may need breathing gear if it is.

2 pack / 2k - pretty sure it is the same thing. I used over 5L of paint to do my last car (badly!) IIRC it was 2:1 mix so about 7.5L in total. Was a bigger car though so would say that it would have been plenty for a little golf.

I'm only an amateur but have done a bit of painting and if I were you I would buy at least 3ltrs and a 5ltr can of good quality thiinners. There's nothing worse than getting half way through a job and getting short of paint. I would probably buy 4ltrs.

over kill with there paint .2l is good for body respray that's just the body
3 if your changing the colour 5 8 litters is far to much using 8 liters on a car sorry but you cant paint . 2pack is a thin coat paint you get no benefit from putting 567 layers unless your rubbish and need to colour rub out and re polish .if you are doing this then 2pack is the wrong paint to staRT as it is not meant to be heavily cut back and re polished

I used cellulose not 2 pack. If you give the whole car a mist coat followed by a full single coat then either a double coat or two further single coats I think you would be very lucky to get away with 2ltrs of colour.
