Screw fit - although if it's an after market gear knob, it could have a couple of hidden allen key grub screws somewhere.

mine just pulls off  8O , but it might have been clued, or threaded (in which case just screw anti clockwise!)

Still cant get it off.

the original looks like a push fit with wide plastic splines.

-Can I cause damage by pulling hard on the gear stick?

thanks for the help

I have have the same issue, It's a metal golf ball type. Can't find anything that holds it in place, but it's on tight as hell :banghead:

i have just replaced my gearknob, because mine kept coming off in my hand whilst changing gear!  8O  :?

The 'golf ball' is actually made of two parts (three including the plastic top bit.)  There is a bit inserted into the golf ball (with the thread on it) and the actually ball part.  The inner section has large splines on it, and then i think it is also glued.  So what had happened to mine is that the inner part was still 'threaded' onto the stick, but the 'ball was coming straight off (because of lack of glue or bonding or whatever)

However, from my observations, the 'ball is actually just screwed onto the gear lever.

Not sure what point I am making, but thought it might be relevant to someone!  :dontknow:
