i have scrapped cars twice as new as that for having more rust!! you can buy repair panels for the inner arch, theres a thread on here sowhere about replacing inner and outer arches, from the pics though your dont look that bad but catch it while you can!!!

wel its only going to get worse, but from the pics it doesnt look that bad at all, if your really worried bout it take it to a local bodyshop or garage and ask them to take a quick look to see how bad it might be.

i've already got a set of decent 14" rubber though….unless i sell the whole wheels together…dunno if i will be running alloys as im hopefully takign the golf to plymouth next year, and polished wheels wont stay polished for very long with the salty air and rain…might have to be a set of steelies…. I rekon those polo alloys with some chrome centres like the camper style ones wud b awesome….
corrado ones do look lovely tho..

If I were you I would just rub the rust down, sand it, prime it, and respray the lip. It's hard to see under there so there's no need to do an absolutely mint job unless you want to.

If you want it the same standard as the rest of your car (which really is spotless :y:) I would take it to a professional. Timski on here (who has written in this thread) does a lot of bodywork and paint on Mk1s, so he may be a good place to start.
