Hood Glue

Anybody got advice on best glue for hood and where to buy

Carhoodwarehouse recommend using Dunlop S1358. I've seen it available for order on a couple of sites (do a google search) and it looks like its only available in 1L or 5L tins.

I think any high temperature contact adhesive should do the job. There is one by UHU that should be OK I think. The Dunlop one is heat resistant to 100oC and looks like its used by professional trimmers a fair bit. It needs to be high temp because the hood gets pretty hot in the summer.

Just also seen they also do hoods for Mk1's! A site I've not come across before. Look pretty cheap too.

No probs mate. When I changed my hood I couldn't find anywhere that supplied it easily and the smallest tin I could find was 5 litres.

Carhood warehouse in chessington surrey recommended Evo Impact adhesive. Ring them before 7:30am - 9am (to talk to the technical staff, before the office staff arrive) for advice. Impact comes in aerosol (?6) and in traditional pot of glue to be brushed on. There is also a small tin of Evo Impact thinners (?4) available, for cleaning up spills. I bought all these from B&B Builders Merchants, Allenby Road, Southall, Middlesex. The aerosol worked well. Use masking tape to mask of roof canvas. As carhood warehouse recommend, apply a first coat of glue to canvas, as a primer. Let it go sticky for 15 mins. Then apply a second layer of Impact, wait 10 - 15 mins, then press together the two pieces to be stuck.

Thats odd, their fitting instructions I got with my hood said to use the dunlop stuff! The Evo data sheet says to avoid temps above 30C I'm sure hood temps get much hotter than this in the sun.
