i have to open the boot flick the switch and close it manually.
it opens ok on the switch no probs.
any ideas what this is? is it just a case of topping up the hyd fluid?
also my roof is looking very tired now….was thinking of trying to renovo it but
just wondered how much more it would be to get a replacement froma decent

it could be a faulty relay too, so ask in the elcetrical section for the location/number etc.
Insofar as the hood is concerned if you have a look at the various trimmers in yellow pages etc, for a quote.
There is carhoods northern who advertise on here. You get a discount being a paid member too.
Or you could go the DIY route and fit your own, depending on your budget etc.
Doing your own hood can be a lot cheaper.
Hood new vynil Just over £100.00
New interliner as these Rot away £45.00 plus
Headliner £130.00
I would say a trimmer or hood fitter would cahrge £300.00 just for a hood on it's own.

You need to get an auto electrician on the case….its never straight forward…Try spraying some contact cleaner down your ignition barrel or fiddle with your key a little while in the barrel. There is a plunger at the bottom of the igntion switch that will enable the hood once the key is in the slot.
The roof inhibit works off the key making a circuit not pushing a plunger down.
also this might be stupid but do you have your tonneau partly attached? if so it has a function to stop you litling the hood with the poppers on.
my moneys on the switch being at fault.

exactly, the link that is highlighted click on it and it will take you to a can of the contact cleaner.
My logic was that if it will go up on the switch then I pressume there is power to the switch, in part at least. So yes give the switch a spray with some, as Funk say's lever it out gently. If you take the wires off make sure you remember where they go.
You should really put the tonneau cover on when the hood is down it stops the wind pressure forcing the retaining straps that hold the hood in folds properly, plus it keeps the headliner clean too.
