Help with broken steering connection

Can any one help with reconnecting the steering wheel rod to the universal joint.  The bit just below the damping spring.  There is a notch in the steering rod which is meant to line up with the bolt that goes through the clamp on the end of universal joint which links to the steering rack.  Is there a knack to lining it all up !   Thanks
