HELP!!! MK1 DOOR LOCKING ROD BALL ACHE!!!!

HELP!!!! mk1 cabby door lock rods.

Whilst having a gander at the insides of my cabby door and pondering central locking (and playing about with the lock mechanism) i undid the door pin and the lock rod came free of the hole and also free of the lock mechanism  :banghead: , is there an easy way to re attach the locking rod to the lock mechanism and also get it through the door pin hole?? as you know space is pretty tight between the door panel and the window :dontknow: , also any advice on fitting central locking will be greatly appriciated. :D

Yes fit mk2 levers.
Then you can fit two rods on the plastic levers that go into the door recess.
These have 2 holes one for an actuating rod for the solenoid and one that goes to the lock pin rod.
They are fiddley to fit back together.
I disconnected the door lever using the 4 bolts so the door opening rod had more movement.

you'll probably find its eaier to remove the lock block from the door to hook it all back up. the plastic part is supposed to go in between the door skin and the block so it doesnt fall off inside the door. you'll struggle to get the metal rods back into palce with the plastic lever still on the lock block!

before you remove the block first pull the inner door handle open fully, then look underneath the block you'll see a hole. poke somethign suitably long and thin into it (metal!) and this will wedge the inner handle lever in the open position. once this is done removing and refitting the lock block is a doddle
