Help...! Door Wont Shut Correctly
I have just bought a 1989 cabriolet, it wants a few bits sorting on it but one of the main things is that my drivers door doesnt shut quite right. it feels like it drops when i open it and needs lifting slightly to shut right (without slamming!).
There is also a tiny leak on this door so im hoping if i can get the door to fit right it might stop this.
Any ideas? Anything would help as im brand new!

First of all, welcome to the club.
Sounds like you just need to adjust the door.
I aint done it on my mk1 but did do it on my old mk4.
Im sure it would be the same process.
I got someone to lift the door from the bottom when it was open while i tightend the hinge bolts up.
Someone will correct me if im wrong.

You can shim the bolts with washers, cut a slot in a washer big enough to go around the bolt and loosen, not remove the hinge bolt and slide it behind, this has the effect of lifting the door by bringing it forward, tighten up and test, for instance if the door is low at the bottom front end shim the lower hinge.
hope that makes sense.
