HELP- bare shell respray - remove clipper body kit???? what?

I imagine that between all of you lot out there someone somewhere must have encountered the same dilemma I'm in.
I've been looking for a mk1 gti for quite some time now but haven't found one i was satisfied with … until now.
The car i may just buy has a clipper body kit on it (done properly), and some extra spoilers and a bonnet vent/scoop/thingy?!
As i want to go 'old skool' i'd very promptly remove these to return the car to it's former glory.
soooooooooooo…….. ' Is it going to cause me severe probs with rust if i take this body kit off and refit original bumpers and arches, obviously use a bodyshop to respray and fill,and what about the bonnet??'
if the car is really solid is it going to be worth just getting the full thing (proper job - windows out) Respray as its in red and i want it in white or black? (how much spraying/filling etc involved)
-would there be a massive difference in price ?
-anyone had this done and how much did it cost?
I would only be satisfied with a 110% pukka job.
Please help if you can.

HI IT WILL B A MAJOR JOB 4 A COLOUR CHANGE. IF DONE PROPERLEY ENGINE WILL NEED 2 COME OUT AS 4 BONNET JUST GET A NEW ONE WILL WORK OUT CHEAPER. BUDGET 4 AROUND 2K ish will b less if u do all the stripping work yourself

STRIPPED MINE MYSELF ALL BAR ENGINE AND GOT A MATE 2 SPRAY ORIGINAL WHITE + 2 NEW REAR ARCHES 2 NEW FRONT WINGS AND A BONNET ALL DENTS OUT AND NO RUST AT ALL ANYWHERE COST 1K WHICH WOZ MEGGA CHEAP HAD IT 2 WEEKS AND HE SAID I MUST HAVE CAUGHT HIM ON A GOOD DAY AT THAT PRICE

That kind of money for that job is `mates rates`,you defo wont get a good job in the south for that kind of muns mate!

what kind of vent is on the bonnet? if ur thinkin of selling it drop me a pm with some pics!!

ha ha ha i sent a PM yesterday about that as well.  great minds think alike  8)

keep it red, color change is a big job, widows out, door off and stripped , tailgate off and stripped, bonnet paint both sides, the engine out, it is one hell of a job prepping under there,  KEEP IT RED, IF YOU WANT A BLACK, WHITE CAR GO AND BUY 1

as above buy a white one and put a nice engine in, much cheaper solution
