Helios Blue Paint Doesn't Match!!

Hello yee all

I need help with my paint please. I have a 1990 Golf Cab which i bought early last year. The previous owner had a full re-spray in Helios blue as per the original colour (LA5Y) and it was done to a very good standard however, some water had got in underneath and caused slight bubbling on the plastic wheel arch covers, and then i got a few spots of rust appearing on the boot lid and a tiny bit on the rear quarter panel under the rear light. So, rubbed it all down, spent ages prepping it and treated the rust, looks lovely!!! Down to Halfords, 3 x tins of Holts paint in LA5Y. Applied it carefully but IT'S TO DARK……….Bugger!  :banghead:

Any ideas, views or recommendations? Do You think i am looking at a full re-spray, if so how much should it cost?

best bet is to go to your local bodyshop and ask who mixes there paint.  I use v.r.s in Boston as their colour matches are generally spot on.  There will be someone local to you who does it. May work out about £20 a can if they have to mix from scratch though.

I find holts stuff is usually way off.  I did the front wings on my old arctic white polo a few years back and the holts cans just weren't quite there.  Did the wings on my mates arctic white audi 80 yesterday and the cans from V.R.S were perfect.

You get what you pay for.

Jon.

Thanks Jon

I have just spent the bank holiday rubbing it all down again ready for paint. Once i get the interior back in i will take it down to a local bodyshop and see what's what.

Cheers
