Grill Question

Hi

After hitting a pheasant and breaking the grill on my Citi golf i have tried to fit a mk1 twin grill i had lying around, i have been trawling through pictyres for ages for the answer but cant find it so …

I have a gap beneath the grill which looks as though there is a panel there on the pictures i have seen, is it a simple push in piece of plastic trim or part of the bodywork ? The orignial grill was igger and filled all this but i would rather replace with an old one as i want to slowly loose a few of the Citi features, bodykit, stickers etc and replace with older badges, wheel arches , grill etc. next question will be dies anyone have one of the above panels for sale ? not fussed if it has to be welded as a respray is on the cards shortly.

excuse the dirtyness !

Before i broke it, although one of the lamps had rusted and not the same so was another reason to replace, also they were quite recessed so looked a lot different to og.

Yeh, the mount had broke when i brought it, thats fixed now. The panel is under the grill in the pictures between the grill and bumper, you can see slots in the bodywork which i would suspect will take some sort of insert which will take the clips from the panel ???

I know the part you mean mate. It's kinda scalloped under the headlights, yours looks different.

Thanks for the replies, this picture stolen off this site explains all, it forms part of the front panel, i just need the top cut off it marked in red and i can hopefully stitch it in and hide the join behind the bumper, the bodykit is to come off anyway to make way for mk1 bumpers. Dont really want to stay with the SA grill as it looks a lot different and the fogs are recessed which takes away a lot of the looks, the originals have more of a frogeyed look about them which i like.
